Brigite Bourlon, the owner of this relatively large estate in Saint-Emilion is a really hard working winemaker, mother and the centre of her family's life. Always smiling and with a cheeky sense of humour that is somehow reflected in her wines! Having spent lunch with the slightly mischevious Brigitte I was bowled over by her Saint-Emilion which we enjoyed with some grilled Magret Duck.
Puisseguin is in fact a satelite or outlining village in the Appellation of Saint-Emilion, what does this mean in reality? It provides us with some great tasting and excellent quality Saint-Emilion at equally impressive prices and wines that can compete favourably with the more famous AOC Saint-Emilion wines. This is one of Jason's go to Bordeaux reds without breaking the bank too much. Sadly stocks were very limited in the excellent 2010 vintage so grab some whilst you still can.
