"I remember perfectly during the joyous yet back-breaking period of the grape harvest, the song of the grape pickers, the cart full of baskets filled with ripened grapes and the rumble of the the old oak wine vats that rolled along the small cobbled streets from one cellar to another. In the cellar plunging the cap of the wine press and the sweetness of fruit that filled the warm evenings. During the night the joy and the satisfaction of working in our cellar were incredible despite tiredness and the hard work of the daytime grape harvest.
That lively and still vivid memory of my grandfather Giuseppe, a recognised vinedresser with his joyful grin that hid a more sterner side lives with me everyday. Everyone knew of my grandfathers skill as a vinedresser and the deliciousness of his wines, his vineyards and wines were always known as the best ones in Venosa. In this way, with these wonderful memories and our hard work, I have grown up. I am very proud that my sons continue my hard work and that of our ancestors and have inherited the simple values belonging to a vine-growing and a wine-producing culture that is always genuine and respectful of the environment" GIUSEPPE LATORRACA.
